Zelensky made a major, tragic, probably irreversible mistake. He should have praised Trump, flattered him, honored him, lied to him, even kissed his behind if necessary to get the mineral deal and some kind of peace. Yes, Trump was going to screw him and his country in favor of Russia no matter what, but getting the U.S. involved in mining in Ukraine was Zelensky’s prize. He could have won the game with that card. Now, all is lost.
Trump will not forget. He wanted a Nobel Peace Prize, and now he won’t get it. He is probably furious. He’ll retaliate against Zelensky, Ukraine, Europe, and he will continue his campaign to destroy – and take over — America. He’ll join Putin and other autocrats in the world. And take America with him.
I was in business a long time ago, and had to deal with guys like Trump. They are tough and brutal. I was no match, weak, and lost my shirt.
But I got out and survived, and America will survive if we wake up in time and get a leader. Better do it quick! You can’t keep thinking people like Trump will change, become compassionate, start to play fair. They won’t. If you expect them to play fair, you will keep losing. If you expect them to care, say, about people, you will keep losing.
Poor Zelensky thought that Trump, Vance, and Rubio (Oh, and Musk, too) would care that Russia violated agreements and stole children. They don’t care, and Zelensky lost.
Maybe Trump wants the mineral deal badly enough to play ball a while. But watch him closely and expect treachery. It looks like he will abandon Ukraine and Europe in favor of Russia. Republican politicians will stand by. Democrats will whimper. Who will lead us?
